The Hoophall Classic set the stage for one of the biggest matchups of the year, La Lumiere versus Our Savior New American.
Ranked 17th in the DigitalSports National Basketball Rankings, La Lumiere entered the game as the underdogs to 6th ranked OSNA, but that did not discourage the Lakers.
Led by Jalen Adams and Jalen Coleman, La Lumiere overpowered New American 65-55. Adams led the game in scoring with 32 points along with three assists and five steals. Coleman hits some of the game’s biggest shots en route to a 28 point performance.
Junior Cheick Diallo kept Our Savior New American in the game, posting triple-double figures for the pioneers with 18 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 blocks.
Diallo made his presence known defensively, prohibiting Coleman from driving to the basket. That did not stop the junior guard from finding a way to score, as Coleman made eight of 11 three-pointers, well out of Diallo’s reach as a center.
Adams took on Diallo’s challenges using his speed to drive to the net. With the combination of his excellent driving and shooting abilities, Adams proved that he can score from anywhere on the court.
The Adams and Coleman scoring duo proved to be too much for New American to handle as the Lakers came out with a 10-point victory.
La Lumiere gets back on the court on Tuesday, January 21 as they travel to Mishawaka Christian.
